Governor Wike Reveals Why IPOB Cannot Give "Sit-at-home" Order In Rivers

 "Port Harcourt, Rivers state – The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, May 31, faulted the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)’s sit-at-home order."

Wike explained that the group cannot issue an order to Rivers people to sit at home. According to him, Rivers is a south-south state in the Niger Delta and not one of the southeastern states. He made the disclosure while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, adding that he is not against the activities of the outlawed group in the southeast region of the country.

"Speaking further, the governor noted that IPOB does not exist in Rivers state."

This development is coming as the streets in Owerri, Imo state capital was empty following the observation of the order by residents.

"While vehicular movements were grounded, businesses, schools, and other major economic hubs in the state were closed."

Umahi speaks on IPOB’s "sit-at-home" order in Ebonyi. Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi has reacted to the "sit-at-home" order issued by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra in the state recently.

"In a statement on Saturday, May 29, the governor countered the order of the proscribed southeast group and urged residents to go about their usual daily activities boldly." Umahi warned that traders stand a chance of forfeiting their shops if they refuse to go to marketplaces due to fear of being attacked..

"Imo govt tells residents what to do concerning IPOB’s order"

"The Imo government also directed residents of the state to ignore a sit-at-home order declared by the proscribed IPOB."

Declan Emelumba, the commissioner for information and strategy, made this known during a press briefing on Thursday, May 27.

The commissioner urged residents of the state to go about their lawful businesses without fear of molestation.
